Nearby Glasses
NearLens's early exploration of Bluetooth-based smart-glasses detection was informed by Nearby Glasses, an open-source Android and iOS project created by Prof. Dr. Yves Jeanrenaud. The Nearby Glasses project demonstrated the feasibility of passively detecting smart glasses using publicly registered Bluetooth manufacturer identifiers.
NearLens was independently implemented in TypeScript using the Expo framework. No source code from Nearby Glasses was copied or translated into NearLens. The manufacturer identifiers used by NearLens are drawn directly from the public Bluetooth SIG Assigned Numbers registry, which is the same primary source cited by the Nearby Glasses project.
Nearby Glasses is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0.
